For my ridiculously titled “My milkweed brings all the bugs to my yard”

This , on beautiful Japanese papers, is about the plant, beloved of the native . Well-known for its appeal to monarch butterflies, it is also a favourite of the many different native bumblebees and insects like this small milkweed bug.

A linocut print showing a common milkweed plant with blue-green stem and leaves and two pink-mauve blooms like globes filled with tiny florets. On one leaf is a milkweed bug in black and red. Above one bloom is a yellow and black bumblebee. Resting on the second bloom is a monarch butterfly in tints of orange, black and white. To get the colour of the stem, leaves, blooms, butterfly, bug and bumblebee, I have collaged various lovely, handmade, Japanese papers.
