wafamoustafa 2h ... It's been a week since Assad fled, leaving Syria in ruins. Every day since, I've been: 1 Searching for my father through videos, images, lists, and groups—a deeply painful process. Coordinating with people on the ground to visit hospitals, mosques, detention centers, and morgues to look for those released but unrecognizable, or to identify bodies. 3 Trying to return to Syria, despite having only a German travel document that limits where I can go and risks my asylum status if I enter Syria. No news about my dad yet. My family is in Damascus searching for him. Soon, Syria will fade from your feeds, but our pain remains. Assad is gone, but his legacy endures. For detainees' families, the struggle is far from over it's just beginning X
